’s Career Path After earning her medical degree in 1990 from Iuliu Hațieganu University in Cluj (Romania), Monica completed a residency in neurology in 1995. She then earned a Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience from Joseph Fourier University in Grenoble in 1999. Since 2000, she has been conducting her research at the Laboratory of Psychology and Neurocognition (LPNC, UMR CNRS 5105) at the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA). In addition to her academic work, she practices as a clinical neurologist at Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Grenoble Alpes.

Research Focus
Her research focuses on neurocognitive and integrative models of language and memory, both in healthy individuals (particularly in the context of aging) and in patients with neurological disorders. She is particularly interested in cognitive disorders and neurorehabilitation approaches in conditions such as epilepsy, Rasmussen’s encephalitis, stroke, and neurodegenerative diseases. Her work is based on a multidisciplinary approach combining cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, neuroimaging, and statistical learning.
