Attention to the entire CerCoG community: OVERHEATING

LabEx CerCoG pleased to invite you to its fall scientific seminar, which will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, starting at 1:45 p.m.!

This half-day interdisciplinary workshop will focus on the ethical challenges posed by the growing integration of emerging technologies and innovative therapies—including the use of artificial intelligence—in the field of Brain & Cognition.

At a time when brain-machine interfaces, neuro-invasive therapies, and smart devices are becoming increasingly prevalent in clinical practice and research, new questions arise:
How can we balance innovation with respect for the individual? What ethical boundaries should we establish in the face of promises of enhancement or prediction? And what new forms of vulnerability might these technologies create for human beings?

Three speakers from complementary fields—neuroscience, philosophy, and sociology—will share their perspectives to immerse us in the heart of these hotly debated issues.

• Perrine Seguin, Physician and PhD in Neuroscience, University of Saint-Étienne Clinical Investigations of Emerging Technologies in Neuroscience: Ethical Questions in the Field
• Thierry Menissier, Professor atUniversité Grenoble Alpes Head of the Ethics & AI Chair From an ethical standpoint, are emerging technologies in neuroscience innovations like any others?  

Amid promises of healing, risks of abuse, and societal upheavals, this will be an opportunity for us to explore together the nature of the body, consciousness, and care in the age of these innovative technologies.
