Background
Holder of a medical degree obtained in 1990 from the Iuliu Hațieganu University of Cluj (Romania), Monica completed a residency in neurology until 1995. She then earned a PhD in cognitive neuroscience from the Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble in 1999. Since 2000, she has been conducting her research at the Laboratory of Psychology and Neurocognition (LPNC, UMR CNRS 5105) at UGA. Alongside her academic activities, she practices as a clinical neurologist at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Grenoble Alpes.

Research activity
Her research focuses on neurocognitive and integrative models of language and memory, both in healthy subjects (particularly in the context of aging) and in patients with neurological disorders. She is especially interested in cognitive impairments and neurorehabilitation approaches in conditions such as epilepsy, Rasmussen's encephalitis, strokes, and neurodegenerative diseases. Her approach relies on a multidisciplinary framework combining cognitive neurosciences, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, neuroimaging, and machine learning.
